Postwright Release Note: Your List Stays Put
Postwright 0.4.1 sends your newsletter through Kit or Mailchimp, to the list you already have there, and still waits for your blog post to go live.

The "what you'll need" list on the Postwright home page has a sentence that says Postwright doesn't send through Mailchimp or Kit. Both are common among the writers I'm trying to reach, and those writers already have their list there. They won't move a list to Resend just to find out whether a publishing tool is any good.
0.4.1 retires the sentence. A brand can now send its newsletter issues through Kit or Mailchimp, to the list that's already there, the same way 0.4.0 let Ghost and Beehiiv do it. The order rule hasn't moved: an issue that links to your blog post waits until the post's address answers, because an email that links to a page that isn't live yet is worse than a late one.
Step Zero, my own newsletter, runs on the engine Postwright grew out of, so this one isn't aimed at me. It's for writers who keep their list somewhere else.
What changed
- Kit (Pro). Issues go to all your subscribers, one segment or one tag, as email-only broadcasts. Kit's API has no test-send, so the test is a separate email to a tag that has only you in it, and Postwright checks that before every test.
- Mailchimp (Pro). Issues go to one audience or a saved segment. The test is Mailchimp's own test email, and the send is that same campaign, once Mailchimp's send checklist passes.
- Built to send once. If an answer gets lost while sending, Postwright reads it back instead of sending again, and it cancels a send if the audience or the API key changed since you tested it.
- Your list stays put. Postwright imports and syncs no subscribers, and its sign-up form and drip sequences still use its own list.
- Substack. I checked again, and it still has no public API for individual developers, so Notes stay a draft you paste in.
- What I haven't tested. None of it has run against a real Kit or Mailchimp account. Kit's docs disagree about whether an email-only broadcast with a send time goes out, and I haven't watched one do it. If Kit keeps it as a draft, Postwright holds the issue as "may have been sent" and tells you to look in Kit.
